Most MMOs provide you with the basics: instances, player housing, an in-game economy, and so on. What the vast majority of MMOs don't do is provide you with elaborate systems of political intrigue (outside of the very few and the proud, like EVE and Dark Age of Camelot -- where my Dark Age fans at?).

TERA is the newest game to throw it's hat in the ring, as it is all set to introduce the Vanarch Election system, which will allow you to actually campaign and vote for your favorite potential official. Elected officials which will have some say...

Carbon Games' wonderful blend of arcade-style shooting and real-time strategy AirMech has come to Steam and is currently in closed testing. The studio has details on how you can participate over here, but the short of it is that you'll need to "like" their Facebook or Google+ account for a key.

Those of us who already have an AirMech account can link it up to this Steam version, though that's not a requirement. The game is nearing the end of its alpha and preparing to enter beta, but don't let that scare you off: it's still pretty...

Dragon Age Legends taken offline 21 May 2012 | 7:14 pm
Dragon Age Legends, a Facebook spin-off from BioWare's fantasy RPG series, goes offline next month, EA has announced. A blog post on the game's official site revealed that it will be gone for good from 18th June. The reason? It just isn't making enough money. "This is by no means a reflection on the quality of the game; the awesome team who created it; or the incredible, passionate community who has supported it. The unfortunate reality is that DAL doesn't make enough revenue to sustain itself," read the announcement. Read more…

With Halloween approaching, we know everyone is preparing themselves for the terrible horrors that await them. Sterotypical fear is something FilePlanet was never a fan of, we like our fear to twist our way of thinking and leave us an empty shell of our former selves. To express our fear to others, we found some rather disturbing Left 4 Dead skins. Boomer Thong Skin by darksider1972What has been seen, can not be...

EA understand indie games, they really do, that’s why they have their very own indie bundle. They also understand crowd-funding, or at least they understand that it’s becoming a force that they must reckon with, one way or another. This could go one of two ways. Either Kickstarter HQ is about to be breached by corporate assault drones, or all the profits from FIFA 13 will be pledged to the Kick it Forward scheme. Or perhaps there is a third way. Perhaps EA will waive its cut of sales on Origin for 90 days if...

Back in February 2008 when Kieron first wrote that Gearbox were working on an Aliens game, you’d have had to be the sort of maniac who believes Prometheus is a sensible name for a hubris-invoking scientific expedition to propose that the game wouldn’t be released until February 2013. Today, any such maniacs can be released from the padded cells that hold them because it turns out they were right all along and it’s the rest of us who are mad for not invoking The Walker Principle with enough gusto. Randy Pitchford has today taken to the airwaves...

If your gaming PC still, somehow, has a 32-bit processor and operating system, you really might want to start thinking about upgrading. More than you should've been doing these past eight years, anyway. Battlefield developer DICE has revealed that by next year, there will be games built upon its Frostbite engine which require a 64-bit OS.DICE rendering architect Johan Andersson revealed this nugget on Twitter, noting "If you are on 32-bit, great opportunity to upgrade to Windows 8." Or Windows 7. W7 is good. Get that.As well...

We know that Mass Effect 3 is getting an "extended cut" with a more detailed ending, but BioWare hasn't been totally clear on what that means. We know it will feature more cinematic scenes and personalized outcomes, which could mean just about anything. At least now we know a little more detail, with the revelation that few of the voice actors are returning. If you consider it a spoiler to know which characters are reappearing, you've been warned.G4 reports that Lance Henriksen, Tricia Helfer, and Raphael Sbarge have...
